Recreation

The Township of Southgate offers recreational programming in all seasons through our Recreation Department. We offer sports programming, fitness classes, a community pool, and other seasonal programming at our facilities.

Southgate, by nature of our location, also offers many natural outdoor recreation activities such as hiking, snowmobiling, fishing and swimming. Our community offers nature's playground with over 500 square kilometers of natural amenities, interweaved with trails and community parks.

Southgate Recreation Open House
2026 Recreation Capital & Planning Projects

Thank you to everyone who attended the Township of Southgate Recreation Open House for the 2026 Recreation Capital & Planning Projects.

The open house provided residents with an opportunity to review future recreation planning priorities, proposed capital projects, community recreation needs, and survey results that will help shape recreation services and facilities in Southgate.

Discussion topics included recreation capital priorities for 2026, parks and facilities, future planning initiatives, and long-term recreation priorities identified through community feedback. Project highlights included items such as the sports field complex study and grading/access work, community centre auditorium sport flooring, Glenelg playground and park development, and Flato Parks development.

Public feedback is still welcome. Residents are encouraged to review the presentation materials and recreation planning documents linked below and share any comments or questions with the Township.
