Township of Southgate Observes National Firefighters Memorial Day

On Sunday September 8th, 2024, the Township of Southgate will observe National Firefighters Memorial Day. This is a day to honour the memory of, and pay tribute to, fire services personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving our communities.

Notice of Study Completion - Dundalk Wastewater Treatment Capacity

The Township of Southgate has completed a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) under Ontario's Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (March 2023, as amended) that was initiated to determine a cost effective sewage completion and treatment alternative for the Dundalk urban centre that will minimize environmental impacts and provide additional wastewater treatment capacity that provide for the economic, social and environmental well-being of its ratepayers now and in the future.

Notice - Sale of Surplus Lands - Eco Park Way

Take notice that the Council of the Township of Southgate have declared and authorized the sale of surplus land identified as Part 1, Part of Lot 236, Concession 2, SWTSR, Plan 16R12026, former Township of Proton, at the end of Eco Park Way, in the Township of Southgate, County of Grey.

Local Municipalities Appeal to Province for Help

On Thursday April 24, 2024, representatives from across Grey County attended a delegation at the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) Conference in Toronto to make a case for additional funding for critical municipal infrastructure. The delegation, comprised of Elected Officials and Senior Staff Members, shared joint concerns from the Township of Southgate, West Grey, Owen Sound and Hanover with the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Notice of Project Commencement - Class Environmental Assessment for Eco Parkway Extension

The Township of Southgate owns property east of the existing limit off Eco Parkway in Dundalk. To facilitate the developement of these lands, the Township is extending the existing Eco Parkway and needs to establish a Sanitary and Stormwater Management Servicing strategy.

Reconstruction of Victoria Street (Ida to Young), Dundalk

Please be advised that the Township of Southgate will be completing the reconstruction of Victoria Street and Artemesia Street in Dundalk.

2024 Dog Tags

Canine Licensing

Canine Control By-Law #2020-078 instructs that dog tags will not be issued without a rabies vaccination certificate number, description of the dog and payment. A maximum of three dogs can be registered, anything about 3 dogs requires a kennel license.

Backyard Chickens in the Township of Southgate

The Township has received a number of inquiries about the possibility of housing chickens. Did you know that in accordance with Southgate Zoning By-law 19-2002, the housing of chickens is NOT permitted in any residential zone except Residential Zone 6, and the property in question MUST be greater than 1 hectare in size, with a minimum frontage of 60 metres.
