  • Notice - Sale of Surplus Lands - Eco Park Way

    Take notice that the Council of the Township of Southgate have declared and authorized the sale of surplus land identified as Part 1, Part of Lot 236, Concession 2, SWTSR, Plan 16R12026, former Township of Proton, at the end of Eco Park Way, in the Township of Southgate, County of Grey.

  • Local Municipalities Appeal to Province for Help

    On Thursday April 24, 2024, representatives from across Grey County attended a delegation at the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) Conference in Toronto to make a case for additional funding for critical municipal infrastructure. The delegation, comprised of Elected Officials and Senior Staff Members, shared joint concerns from the Township of Southgate, West Grey, Owen Sound and Hanover with the Ministry of Infrastructure. 

  • Notice of Project Commencement - Class Environmental Assessment for Eco Parkway Extension

    The Township of Southgate owns property east of the existing limit off Eco Parkway in Dundalk. To facilitate the developement of these lands, the Township is extending the existing Eco Parkway and needs to establish a Sanitary and Stormwater Management Servicing strategy.

  • Reconstruction of Victoria Street (Ida to Young), Dundalk

    Please be advised that the Township of Southgate will be completing the reconstruction of Victoria Street and Artemesia Street in Dundalk.

    The final annual report for the 2019-2023 Community Action Plan is now available! The 2023-2027 Community Strategic Plan was approved by Council on November 1, 2023 and can be viewed here. 

  • 2024 Dog Tags

    Canine Licensing

    Canine Control By-Law #2020-078 instructs that dog tags will not be issued without a rabies vaccination certificate number, description of the dog and payment. A maximum of three dogs can be registered, anything about 3 dogs requires a kennel license.

    The purpose of Community Strategic Plan is to establish a shared vision and priorities for the future improvement of a community. As the Township of Southgate navigates a period of significant transformational change and growth, Township staff and Council members will use the Community Strategic Plan as a guiding framework from now through to 2027.

    The Township has received a number of inquiries about the possibility of housing chickens. Did you know that in accordance with Southgate Zoning By-law 19-2002, the housing of chickens is NOT permitted in any residential zone except Residential Zone 6, and the property in question MUST be greater than 1 hectare in size, with a minimum frontage of 60 metres.

    The Township of Southgate Community Fund Management is an opportunity to support the projects and programs of non-profit organizations and charities in the Township of Southgate. The fund was created in 2021 through contributions from the Southgate Solar and the Eco-Park Royalties Funds as a permanently endowed community fund.
